Homeroom 2015

I am your child’s EEE homeroom teacher, and I’m delighted to have your child in my class this year. I am looking forward to a very successful year, and I know you are too. The homeroom curriculum is designed to meet the social and emotional needs of gifted students. During this class, we will study Habits of Mind and FFOE (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration). This year’s theme is the faces of EEE! As part of the homeroom lessons, students will:

• Develop a greater awareness, understanding, and acceptance of self and others
• Develop interpersonal skills of communication and conflict reduction
• Develop group process and interaction skills
• Participate in creativity, reflection, and team building lessons
• Develop an understanding of the issues concerning gifted students
• Acquire effective coping skills

Homeroom meets daily for the entire school year from 8:30-9:40. When students arrive at EEE, they enter the gym/cafeteria and leave his or her lunch in the cabinets marked “Elletson.” We expect that your child will bring a take-home folder, a book to read, and a healthy morning snack (optional) in the yellow EEE backpack . Students may bring lunch or purchase a hot lunch from the cafeteria. There should be no need for students to bring their usual larger daily backpacks. Please check your child’s EEE folder for any work or teacher notes each week.

Individual, silent reading is a regular part of homeroom so it’s important that your student have an engaging fiction or non-fiction book to start the day. If your child wishes to read using an electronic device, please be sure it is clearly labeled and that he/she is very responsible about its use and security. Teachers will not take responsibility for personal devices belonging to students. Please clearly label anything your child brings to EEE.

I’m excited about getting to know your child this year! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress using the e-mail address below.

Sincerely,

Robin Elletson
